Endemic. A fairly
common species
in and around
the thick rain
forests from the
foothills to the
mid hills, ectending
to suitable dense
mountain forests
in the higher
hills. This noisy
bird lives in
flocks and is
a regular species
in bird waes.
Their garrulous
flocking habits
makes them easy
to observe and
valuable for locating
other birds. A
flock maintains
a flow of loud,
chatterirng and
squeaking sounds.
When agitated,
may utter loud
laughing calls.
Kitulgala and
Sinharaja are
the best placce
to see this species.
At higher elevations,
it is seen in
Horton Plains
NP and the Peak
Wilderness Sanctuary.
